Before you begin

1. Add the proxy endpoints or chain you intend to use.
2. Select an application and create an ordered routing rule.
3. Enable routing and confirm that macOS reports the Network Extension as running.
4. Use the Connections view to confirm the matched rule, route, destination, and traffic counters.

An empty configuration intercepts nothing. A failed selected proxy closes that connection instead of silently falling back to the system route.

Current compatibility

AppLane targets macOS 14 and later. It supports TCP through SOCKS5, SOCKS4/4A, HTTP CONNECT, and proxy chains of up to eight hops. UDP is limited to one SOCKS5 endpoint, including a one-hop chain, and a fixed IP destination. DNS offers Automatic, System DNS, and All Through Proxy modes. The current version does not provide continuous disconnection protection after the extension stops.

A Network Extension TCP half-close limitation remains under investigation. Applications that finish sending before reading the rest of a response may not work reliably in that pattern.

When contacting support

Include your Mac model, macOS version, AppLane version, proxy protocol, the visible connection state, and the exact error text. Explain whether the issue affects every app or one selected app. Never email proxy passwords, Keychain contents, or an unreviewed configuration export.
