Overview

QuireScene is a comic and e-book reader for Apple TV. This policy explains how it handles your information. In short: QuireScene does not collect it.

Data We Collect

None. QuireScene has no accounts and the developer operates no servers. We do not collect, receive, store off your device, share or sell any personal data, and we have no access to your books, your libraries or your reading history.

Data Stored on Your Apple TV

To work, QuireScene keeps the following on your Apple TV only:

  • Books you transfer to the app, and cached covers and downloaded books.
  • Your reading progress, reading statistics, favorites, search history and settings.
  • The addresses of libraries you add. User names, passwords and API keys for those libraries are stored in the system Keychain.

You can remove transferred books and cached data in Storage & Cache, remove a library in Sources & Transfer, and erase everything by deleting the app.

Network Connections

QuireScene connects only to the places books come from:

  • Project Gutenberg. A new installation includes the Project Gutenberg public-domain library as a source, so the app contacts gutenberg.org to list books, show covers and download the books you open. Like any website, Project Gutenberg receives your IP address and standard request information; its own privacy policy applies. You can delete this source at any time in Sources & Transfer, after which the app no longer contacts it.
  • Pepper&Carrot. A new installation also includes the open webcomic Pepper&Carrot by David Revoy (CC BY 4.0) as a source, so the app contacts peppercarrot.com to list episodes and load the pages you read. The site receives your IP address and standard request information; its own terms and privacy statement apply. You can delete this source in Sources & Transfer as well.
  • Libraries you add. When you add a Komga, WebDAV or OPDS library, QuireScene connects directly from your Apple TV to the server address you entered, using the credentials you entered. Nothing passes through the developer.
  • Local transfer. While QuireScene is open, it runs a small web server that is reachable only on your local network, so that your phone or computer can upload files to the Apple TV. Uploads require the pairing code shown on the TV. Files go straight from your device to your Apple TV and never leave your network. This is why tvOS asks for permission to access the local network.

No Tracking or Analytics

QuireScene contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software. It does not track you across apps or websites and uses no advertising identifier. This website does not use cookies or analytics either.

Children

QuireScene does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. The content you read is whatever you or your libraries provide.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
